Ruby on Rails (RoR) has been a phenomenon in the software development world due to the dynamic nature of the Ruby language, and the ease of use of the Rails framework. There is a need for an equivalent dynamic language (Groovy) and framework (Grials) that live atop the Java environment to give the 6M Java developers and organizations with Java legacy a gentler-slope route to such frameworks.
Groovy and Grails have great early traction and acceptance from the community. There is an active user community that gives back. G2One employees are the key innovators thought leaders in the space.
Groovy is a dynamic language that is a superset of Java, and provides features seen in other dynamic languages such as Ruby, Python or Smalltalk. Unlike those other languages, Groovy lets enterprises leverage and protect your investments in Java developer skills, tooling or server software. Grails is an advanced and innovative Web-application framework based on Groovy, and built on proven and performant open source frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, SiteMesh, Quartz, and Ajax libraries.
To succeed, Grails must be as easy to use as Rails, while living on top of Java, Spring, and Hibernate, and exposing their raw power in a Rails-like friendly manner. Groovy must become a complete proper superset of Java and not significantly affect performance. |
